In September 2007, The
Music Zoo welcomed the Gibson Custom
Shop Traveling Exhibit to New York,
straight from Nashville. This 40-foot
rolling showroom was packed with some
cool Custom Shop Gibsons which were
available for anyone to try. The Music
Zoo (right) was packed with enthusiastic
guitarists and collectors who came down
to ogle the goods, meet Gibson's guitar
aging guru Tom Murphy, and win the free
'58 Les Paul VOS in Washed Cherry we
gave away. That's right. We gave away a
'58 VOS!
This
event was, according to the Gibson
trailer staff, "one of the best they've
done." Even we were surprised how many
folks showed up and practically turned
the event into their own day-long guitar
party. Thanks to all our friends from
all over New York who came down to
represent.

Guitar
aging expert Tom Murphy amazing everyone
with his depth of knowledge on all
things guitar. His generosity with his
time and stories was a real highlight
for everyone. Thanks, Tom.
The
Music Zoo would need a half dozen
trailers to move all the Gibson Custom
Shop we have in stock. Inside the
Traveling Exhibit, people were welcome
to grab any of these fantastic guitars
off the wall and plug right into a POD
to jam.
In addition to the
guitars in the Gibson Trailer, we put on
a guitar show of our own. Dozens and
dozens of Gibson Custom Shop guitars
were on display inside the store
including a fantastic selection of
Murphy '59 Reissue Les Pauls, and some
rare collector pieces like this signed
Jimmy Page Pilot Run (#9) Les Paul.

was psyched.
Thanks so much to
Gibson Custom Shop, Tom Murphy, Tom
Meyers, the Les Paul Forum guys like
Todd and Ed A who came down --all
of whom made this event a huge success
and a lot of fun.
