In 1977, The Eagles released what would be one of the best-selling albums of all time, “Hotel California”.  Guitarist Don Felder wrote the original concept and demo for the hit song of the same name, Hotel California, and the rest has become rock and roll history.  Both the beautiful twelve string guitar part throughout the song and the epic dual guitar solo at the end from Felder and Joe Walsh have been endlessly transcribed and air-guitared for the last 30+ years.  Now, Gibson Custom Shop is set to release a fitting tribute to “Hotel California” with two new models, the Don Felder “Hotel California” Doubleneck, and the Don Felder “Hotel California” 1959 Les Paul.  These both with come in Aged as well as VOS trim, and we will even have some Aged/Signed guitars available.  Get in touch with us if you’d like to Pre-Order either or both of these special limited editions.  Follow the jump for more info and specs.

Frequently named in polls for the “world’s greatest guitar solos”, and listed at #49 in Rolling Stone magazine’s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time”, Don Felder and Joe Walsh’s dual guitar solo on the Eagles’ “Hotel California” tapped a searing tone and an atmospheric vibe that still resonate today. To give live renditions their maximum impact, Don Felder has—right from the start—played the hit song on a Gibson EDS-1275 Double Neck, performing the haunting 12-string introduction on the guitar’s top neck (routed through a Leslie rotating speaker unit) and switching to the lower 6-string neck for the epic soloing dual with Joe Walsh.
To honor this legendary pairing of artist and instrument, Gibson Custom introduces the Don Felder “Hotel California” SG Double Neck guitar, in a strictly Limited Edition. The Don Felder Double Neck are all aged and wired to accurately reflect the look and sound of Felder’s own Double Neck.

To honor this legendary pairing of artist and instrument, Gibson Custom introduces the Don Felder “Hotel California” 1959 Les Paul guitar, in a strictly Limited Edition with only 50 aged and signed units, 100 aged units and 150 VOS units produced. The instrument is crafted in the image of Gibson’s iconic 1959 Les Paul with a few twists unique to Don’s model which includes a smaller than usual neck for the era.  All versions carry the same basic specs and the aged versions are aged to accurately reflect the look of Felder’s original ’59 Les Paul.  All come with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
