NAMM 2012  This may very well be the coolest guitar at all of NAMM 2012.  We had to muscle our way past a crowd of camera-wielding Fender fans just to get a closer look at this work of art.  The Samurai Stratocaster is a mind-blowing expression of ancient japanese culture using some of the finest Koa we’ve ever laid eyes on and utilizing the talents of painter Pamelina, leatherworker Dru Whitefeather, and inlay artist Ron Thorn.  We got John Cruz to give us the story behind this guitar on video, so we’ll let him tell the rest.  Oh, and this guitar is coming to The Music Zoo.  It ain’t cheap, but damn is this thing pretty.

    Outstanding! Looks heavy though.

  2. Not exactly what Leo had in mind, but pretty damn cool.

  3. ZZDoc says:

    Beautiful guitar art for sure.

  4. Docofroc says:

Beautiful guitar but would like better without the leather tooling. Doesn’ t look seamless at headstock or on lower bout. Think with time it would probably separate. Just my thought.

yeah but how does it play? sound? need vids of this thing plugged into a real good valve amp… (cornford, suhr badger, fender twin…) And it’s is very artistic to be sure… but a bit overcooked for my tastes

    Why those bridge saddles???

  7. Jack Phua says:

What is the price of the guitar ?

  8. Boyer Bros. says:

Having done leather tooling and inlay, I agree with Docofroc, the inlay is much more difficult than the leather work. That neck, with the 5A grade Koa body, would have been a beautiful guitar all by itself. I would have liked to have seen the leather work on a separate piece. Don’t get me wrong, it is beautiful too. I don’t question its durability. Any guitar like this is a Case Queen, not a player. Thank you for the wonderful photographs.
