NAMM 2016: The Gibson Memphis ’58 Reissue ES-335

NAMM2016 A major focus at Gibson Memphis this year has been the ’58 Reissue ES-335 Memphis. The benchmark for this “new” model is the first ES-335 ever built in 1958. The Gibson ’59 reproduction ES-335 differs from this new ’58 in a few ways. The main difference would be the neck profile. The ’58 is solid and meaty, while the ’59 has that slim profile. With PAF-styled MHS pickups that are as close to the originals as you’ll ever get. Vintage Guitar says, ultimately, it’s all about the sound. The new ’58 has both bark and bite. Through the neck pickup, you can make it sing with glorious resonance. Switch to the bridge humbucker, dig in with your pick, and you can get a growl that’s downright scary.

The ’58 looks as good as a real vintage one, only without the paint-chips and buckle rash. We can’t wait to get our hands on these this year! Let us know what you think from the photos below!
