Gary Clark Jr Concert (5 of 5)

Rain outs can be a drag, but this time it all worked out – for us at least! Thanks to Governors Ball being rained out on Sunday, Gary Clark Jr. was able to set up shop at NYC’s intimate Bowery Ballroom (575 capacity) for 2.5 hours of blues-rock mastery. We were lucky enough to score tickets to this sold out gig, and found a great spot front and center to hear Gary’s best jams including “Bright Lights”, “Don’t Owe Ya A Thing”, and the slow jam of all slow jams “You Saved Me”.

Being the guitar geeks that we are, our eyes were mostly on Gary’s rig, which included a gorgeous 1961 Gibson Les Paul/SG Standard (which was gifted to him by Pat Smear), a Fender Custom Shop 1963 Strat, and of course Gary’s signature Epiphone Blak n Blu Casino (one of our best sellers of 2015) – all of which rang beautifully through his Fender Vibro-King Amps (obtained from Pete Townshends collection). Unlike some other players today, Gary doesn’t rely on an endless amount of pedal trickery to nail down his killer tone – some wah, a lil bit of fuzz, and a touch of OD, and that’s it! We can dig that.

Check out our pics below and some live footage from our Periscope.tv from one of the best gigs we’ve been to in quite some time.
