Fender Custom Shop '59 Ash Precision Bass 2-Tone Sunburst View

For this awesome '59 Precision Bass, we took a few of our favorite P-Bass characteristics and put them all into one instrument to create this bad-ass looking bass. This '59 P-Bass is built with a 2-tone sunburst finish on an ash body, with a 1-ply black pickguard to match the black edge of the burst nicely. The single '62 P-Bass pickup pumps out that classic Fender thump, and we gave the headstock a '70's style Fender decal for some added vibe.

Fender Custom Shop 2011 Road Show Limited Edition 1951 Precision Bass Candy Apple Red View

We look forward to the Fender Road Show every year; they fly in a few of their top guys from the Custom Shop Team (who we have a blast hanging out with and just can't say enough positive things about), and send us a Masterbuilder to talk guitar building and answers every question we throw at them. This limited '51 P-Bass relic features a candy apple red finish, ash body, 1-piece maple neck with a '51 "U" neck shape, a gold anodized pickguard, and a true vintage feel from the 7.25" radius and vintage style frets. Check out the wild patterns in the finish checking, and the small dings around the body edges, very subtle but adds lots of vibe.

A faithful tribute to the famous battle-scarred fretless Jazz Bass that Jaco Pastorius was known for wielding on stage throughout his career. With cooperation from Jaco's bass tech, Fender copied all the cosmetic nuances of the original instrument to make this great replica. With its heavily worn and torn finish, epoxy-coated laminate fretboard, and knurled P-Bass knobs, the bass has the same look and feel as the original. Story aside, this is a wonderful playing instrument that has an excellent vibe to it, and the lack of lacquer on the neck makes it a smooth player as well.

To celebrate the bassist and his skill and achievements, the Fender Custom Shop has released this P-Bass made exactly to Palladino's specifications, including a fiesta red finish that has been worn and torn to simulate the look of a played-in vintage instrument, a select alder body, rosewood fretboard with vintage style frets, a custom-wound P-Bass pickup, and 4-ply tortoise shell pickguard. Also to Palladino's liking, the bass is strung with Thomastik-Infeld® flatwound strings, for that signature mellow jazzy tone right out of the box.
