Fender Custom Shop '60 Esquire NOS Electric Guitar 3-Tone Sunburst
Have you ever seen a double bound Esquire that you didn't immediately fall in love with? Us neither. This is a beautiful Fender Custom Shop '60 Esquire with a NOS 3-Tone Sunburst finish and a satin-finished neck for a super-smooth playability. We love the wide grain patterns of the ash body, and the dark color of the flat lam rosewood fretboard complements the parchment 3-ply pickguard extremely well. Fear not tonal limits with a one-pickup Tele, once you get the hang of using an Esquire's pickup switching to your advantage, there's not much that this guitar can't do.

Fender Custom Shop '61 Stratocaster Relic Electric Guitar Olympic White
New for the 2016 Collection we have this excellent '61 Stratocaster in a relic Olympic White finish. We’re always fans of the way Olympic White looks up against a rosewood fretboard, and the 3-ply mint green guard on this Strat tops it all off. Other features include a 9.5” fretboard radius, hand-wound Texas Special single-coils, a 5-way switch, and a bone nut. The neck on this guitar is a comfortable mid ‘60s oval “C” shape – which lends itself to both rhythm and lead playing, and the relic work on this guitar is nice and tasteful, mostly bare wood around the contours of the body and some tarnishing to darken up the nickel hardware.

Fender Custom Shop 20th Anniversary Relic Nocaster Electric Guitar Nocaster Blonde
As a company that takes their Relics very seriously, we’re very excited to offer the Fender Custom Shop 20th Anniversary series. The 20th Anniversary Series takes it back to the 1995 NAMM show, the first year that the Fender Custom Shop revealed two Relics; a ’56 Mary Kaye Strat and a ’51 Nocaster. These guitars looked so close to the originals that they fooled everyone who came across them.

Fender has remade those two original Relics. This Nocaster features a Nocaster Blonde finish on a lightweight ash body, quartersawn 1-piece maple neck with that great "U" profile, and Handwound Nocaster single-coil pickups for that classic Tele spank. In a tribute to the original year, only 95 of each instrument have been made.

Fender Custom Shop Exclusive Masterbuilt Jason Smith '60 Stratocaster Ultimate Relic Electric Guitar Black
In 2007 we approached the Fender Custom Shop with an idea. We wanted the most beat-up, played-in Stratocaster we'd ever seen, and we wanted it to feel like it had been played every night for 40 years. Soon we realized that we would have to take the aging processes developed in the Custom Shop to their limits to produce what would end up being not a tribute to any famous guitarist, but a tribute to the instrument itself. The Ultimate Relic Stratocaster® was born.

We really wanted something that had that special vibe, that particular feeling that so many vintage, well-played instruments have. We had our doubts that guitars aged to this degree wouldn't be done right unless it was a tribute model or some such limited edition. But we shouldn't have doubted Fender's Masterbuilders. Custom Shop veteran John Cruz and guitar building phenom Jason Smith immediately "got it" and met our challenge with an extraordinary attention to detail and skill.

We can order your Ultimate Relic based on Stratocaster® models from 1954 through 1969, in original colors and custom hues. All Ulimate Relics have a extremely worn (and thin) lacquer finish and a very soft neck feel, with the neck profile determined by the model year. We add a special players touch by outfitting most of the guitars with a slightly flatter 9.5" fingerboard radius, and slight larger 6105 medium jumbo frets. Is it a player's guitar? Or is it a collector's guitar? It's both.

Music Zoo manager Tim Reynolds:
"I worked with John [Cruz] to establish the concept of what the guitars should look like, being careful to create our own style that wouldn’t be replicating any signature guitar or famous Strat that already exists, but rather create a stand-alone, been to hell and back player guitar. I have to admit though, it’s really John’s vision and skill that makes these guitars what they are. …The guitars feel so broken in and ”at home“ in your hands. They look and feel like a vintage piece right out of the case. Tonally, with a minimal amount of finish left, you’ll find the instrument resonates extremely well, and you tend to get more openness and sustain by allowing the wood to ring freely, much in the same way a vintage player guitar comes alive from the first note you play. Bottom line, we just wanted to make the most badass Relic around."

Fender Custom Shop Music Zoo Exclusive Hardtop Stratocaster Double-Humbucker Electric Guitar Black Cherry Burst
The Exclusive Hardtop Stratocaster guitar is the result of a collaboration between The Music Zoo and Fender Custom Shop. We envisioned an instrument that acknowledged the Fender Stratocaster as being the original inspiration for all of the Strat-type guitars that broke the mold by having humbucker pickups and other modifications that earned them the moniker, “Super Strats.”

So, the Hardtop is the Zoo’s own take on the Super Strat concept, as made by the source! They’re distinguished by having very vintage-like Bare Knuckle Mule humbucker pickups, and the guitars are available in one- or two-pickup models. You’ll also notice that these guitars are built without pickguards, hence the name Hardtop; all electronics are rear-loaded through the instrument’s back. This Hardtop example, finished in a gorgeous Black Cherry Burst, has two pickups that each have independent volume controls and one master tone control. A heavy-duty three-way toggle switch is used as the pickup selector.

The Hardtop’s body is lightweight ash, and the one-piece maple neck has a rounded “V” profile and an Indian rosewood fretboard. There’s definitely a minimal aesthetic at work here, and you can see this by the headstock’s bare-bones NoCaster-like Fender decal. Still, when it comes down to actually playing the Hardtop, you’ll hear how using hand-selected quality woods along with the right components and craftsmanship truly make a difference. The guitar resonates effortlessly unplugged while responding with rich overtones and nuances.
