Fender Custom Masterbuilt ’56 Rosewood Neck Stratocaster NOS Electric Guitar Vintage Blonde
The 1956 Stratocaster is known for it's distinctive "V' shaped neck, and classic '50s Strat bell-like chime. The "V" shape doesn't feel too sharp as you would think, it's great for quick rhythm playing, and as you go up the neck the "V" starts to taper out, excellent for lead playing. We put a spin on this '56 Strat by giving it a one-piece rosewood neck. The guitar, which has been crafted by Fender Master Builder Jason Smith, has a unique look to it and an even more out-of-the-ordinary tone. Rosewood emphasizes the low end, giving it a "boomier" and looser bottom end. Speaking of tone, this guitar is loaded with Abby Ybarra handwound '50s Strat pickups, the cream of the crop when it comes to Fender electronics.

Fender®, Stratocaster®, and Strat® are registered trademarks of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation.

The "C" shape always fits itself right into your fretting hand and never hinders anyone's playing style. We put a spin on this '63 Tele by giving it a one-piece rosewood neck. The guitar, which has been crafted by Fender Master Builder Jason Smith, has a unique look to it and an even more out-of-the-ordinary tone. Rosewood emphasizes the low end, giving it a "boomier" and looser bottom end. Fender Custom Shop 2011 Limited Edition Esquire Heavy Relic Electric Guitar Desert Sand
Part of the 2011 Limited Edition Custom Shop guitars, this is an Esquire with a heavy relic desert sand finish and gold hardware. Despite the fact that it's only a single pickup guitar, the Esquire is a very versatile instrument once you learn how to use the volume and tone controls in very subtle ways. The guitar has a great looking flamed 1-piece maple neck, and the relic work makes the Esquire look like it's stopped into every dive bar it ever passed by. A part of the wear we dig is the area on the back where the paint has been worn down to the primer but not yet the bare wood. An excellent limited edition instrument with exceptional looks and tone.

Fender Custom Shop 2011 Limited Edition George Fullerton Prototype Stratocaster Electric Guitar White Blonde
Hired by Leo Fender in 1948, George Fullerton was one of the people who assisted Leo in designing some of the companies timeless instruments, in this case the Stratocaster. This 2011 Limited Edition instrument is a replication of the vision Fullerton had for the prototype Strat. With its interesting "space-age" pickguard made of black bakelite with a chrome control plate and knurled dome knobs this Strat really looks like one of a kind. Fender had updated the guitar to feature a 9.5" fretboard radius and narrow jumbo frets for enhanced modern day playability. The guitar is loaded it with Abby Ybarra handwound Stratocaster pickups, which is appropriate considering she's been perfecting her craft since she started at Fender in 1956.

Fender Custom Shop 2011 Road Show Limited Edition Custom Telecaster Thinline Electric Guitar
We look forward to the Fender Road Show every year; they fly in a few of their top guys from the Custom Shop Team (who we have a blast hanging out with and just can't say enough positive things about), and send us a Masterbuilder to talk guitar building and answers every question we throw at them. On top of that, they roll out a very special group of Limited Edition instruments built exclusively for this event.

This Roadshow instrument is a Custom Telecaster Thinline with a white blonde finish that has gone through Fender's Closet Classic treatment. The treatment gives the guitar some finish checking and surface swirling throughout the body. This one has some of our favorite features all packed into one killer instrument; a white finish/gold hardware combo, an AA flamed maple neck, and Twisted Tele pickups...amazing!

Fender Custom Shop 2011 Road Show Limited Edition Nocaster Heavy Relic Electric Guitar

This Road Show instrument is a Nocaster heavy relic with an awesome lake placid blue finish. The guitar features an ash body, a chunky feeling Nocaster "U" shaped neck, 1-ply black bakelite pickguard, and two Abby handwound Twisted Tele Pickups. We dig the way the Custom Shop wore the finish on the Nocaster off around the edges of the body, as well as the small dings throughout the top and back.

Fender Custom Shop 2011 Roadshow Limited Edition Esquire Pro Electric Guitar Black

This Road Show guitar is a Esquire Pro with a closet classic black finish. A really unique feature of this instrument is that the body is made of 100 year old pine, definitely not a common spec found on guitars. The neck has a Cabronita large "C" profile, and the guitar has the traditional Esquire single pickup layout, loaded with an Abby Ybarra handwound Twisted Tele in the bridge.

You might ask why the Esquire has a 3-way pickup switch when the guitar only has a single pickup. In the bridge position, the pickup is routed through the volume only, no tone control. In the middle position the pickup is routed through both the volume and tone controls, and in the neck, the pickup goes through a fixed treble-reducing capacitor which gives the guitar a darker, more bass heavy tone. The closet classic finish dulls down the black color a bit with some surface swirling instead of the usual gloss you would find on a new guitar.

Fender Custom Shop American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar Crimson Red Transparent
If you thought the American Deluxe Telecaster was a great-playing Tele, the souped-up Custom Shop American Deluxe Telecaster takes the looks and playability of the instrument even further. We really dig the appearance of this Tele, the crimson red transparent finish lets you see the grain of the ash body and complements the top body binding and 3-ply pearloid guard very nicely. On top of its looks, the guitar is loaded with Fender N3 Noiseless pickups, giving you classic Tele-twang without the infamous Tele hum.

Fender Custom Shop Dick Dale Signature Stratocaster Electric Guitar Chartreuse Sparkle
The Custom Shop Dick Dale signature Strat looks and sounds like no other Strat, which is appropriate for the player who sounds like no other; the king of surf-rock Dick Dale. With it's eye-catching chartreuse sparkle finish, reverse-style Strat headstock, and lightly figured maple neck, the looks are all up to par on this one. The tone sounds like 50's single coil heaven. Thanks to the reversed bridge pickup, and special toggle switch bypassing the switch to combine the neck and bridge pickups, the guitar can do some awesome surf-guitar tones when you add a reverb in there.

Fender Custom Shop Exclusive Masterbuilt '57 Stratocaster Ultimate Relic Electric Guitar White Blonde
In 2007 we approached the Fender Custom Shop with an idea. We wanted the most beat-up, played-in Stratocaster we'd ever seen, and we wanted it to feel like it had been played every night for 40 years. Soon we realized that we would have to take the aging processes developed in the Custom Shop to their limits to produce what would end up being not a tribute to any famous guitarist, but a tribute to the instrument itself. The Ultimate Relic Stratocaster® was born.

We really wanted something that had that special vibe, that particular feeling that so many vintage, well-played instruments have. We had our doubts that guitars aged to this degree wouldn't be done right unless it was a tribute model or some such limited edition. But we shouldn't have doubted Fender's Masterbuilders. Custom Shop veteran John Cruz and guitar building phenom Jason Smith immediately "got it" and met our challenge with an extraordinary attention to detail and skill.

We can order your Ultimate Relic based on Stratocaster® models from 1954 through 1969, in original colors and custom hues. All Ulimate Relics have a extremely worn (and thin) lacquer finish and a very soft neck feel, with the neck profile determined by the model year. We add a special players touch by outfitting most of the guitars with a slightly flatter 9.5" fingerboard radius, and slight larger 6105 medium jumbo frets. Is it a player's guitar? Or is it a collector's guitar? It's both.

Music Zoo manager Tim Reynolds:
"I worked with John [Cruz] to establish the concept of what the guitars should look like, being careful to create our own style that wouldn’t be replicating any signature guitar or famous Strat that already exists, but rather create a stand-alone, been to hell and back player guitar. I have to admit though, it’s really John’s vision and skill that makes these guitars what they are. …The guitars feel so broken in and ”at home“ in your hands. They look and feel like a vintage piece right out of the case. Tonally, with a minimal amount of finish left, you’ll find the instrument resonates extremely well, and you tend to get more openness and sustain by allowing the wood to ring freely, much in the same way a vintage player guitar comes alive from the first note you play. Bottom line, we just wanted to make the most badass Relic around."
