We were really blown away by the looks of this pre-owned Ken Smith Black Tiger 6-string bass. The variety and use of exotic pieces of wood crafted into a single instrument really leaves you with the impression that this is a piece of art as well as a musical instrument. The body of this Black Tiger is a 7-piece laminate of black walnut and tiger maple, with an exhibition-grade figured crotch walnut top, a walnut back, and a tiger maple core. The ebony fretboard has been left without inlays, allowing the dark color and quality of the wood to be appreciated sans decoration. The original knobs have been upgraded to real wooden knobs, to further accent the natural looks of the bass. The bass is in excellent condition, with only some light finish checking in the top lacquer coat of the upper horn. but no dents or dings to ruin the appearance.
