Includes: Baker Hardshell Case, Original Spec Sheet, Photo, and Letters from Gene Baker
Here is a very special guitar that started it all for Gene Baker, his serial number 001 prototype! This guitar was completed in 1994 and built entirely by Gene in a garage that served as his first “factory.” The guitar was completed nearly a year before the second guitar was ever made and about two years before they became an actual company. The guitar features a two-tone sunburst finish, mahogany body with carved quilt top, a quilt maple/purple heart neck, Brazilian rosewood board, 12” radius, 1.650 nut width, 25.5” scale length and Duncan PAF pickups. It is in very good condition overall, though it does have some light surface marks on the back and some light wear/oxidation on the metal parts to note. Accompanying the guitar is the original build sheet, a photo of the body in production, as well as two letters from Gene Baker outlining the authenticity and history of this exact guitar. In the letters, Gene writes that a previous owner had hung the guitar on a hook and it developed some discoloration on the edges of the headstock. The owner had him fix the finish in this area, at which time he also fixed a minor finish flaw near the neck heel. Beyond this, the guitar is all original and correct. It is fully documented with plenty of provenance.
