Gibson Exclusive Run Prewar Western Classic J-200
Includes: Hardshell Case and Paperwork

During the mid-1930s, Ray Whitley—one of the original singing cowboys—approached Gibson to build a custom acoustic. The result was the first J-200 in 1937, which Whitley used exclusively for many years and is now displayed at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee. Gibson’s Custom Western Classic J-200 is a painstaking recreation of that celebrated guitar.

This instrument is part of a custom run exclusive to The Music Zoo. We worked with the master luthiers at the Gibson Montana Custom Shop to bring you the Vintage Light Lacquer series of guitars. The concept is simple: limit the finish to half the amount of lacquer that is normally applied. This really opens up the tone of the instrument, allowing the wood to resound more. The result is a louder, fuller, and richer sound with great clarity. The finish has a light VOS feel about it, like the Historic Reissue Les Pauls. One strum and you'll hear the difference.
