Collector's Choice #28 Ronnie Montrose '58 Les Paul Electric Guitar STP Burst Item Description

We love the idea behind the Collectors Choice Series from the Gibson Custom Shop. Instead of reissuing an entire year of Les Pauls, i.e. the '57, 58, or 59 Les Paul, the Collectors Choice takes one specific guitar built in those historic years, and clones the instrument to a T. For the 28th instrument in the Series, Gibson got their hands on the original '58 burst owned by the late Ronnie Montrose. This is the guitar that Ronnie used during his tenure with the Edgar Winter Group, and it can be heard on EWG hits like "Frankenstein" and the solo on "Free Ride."

Gibson Custom did a wonderful job recreating this guitar, dubbed the "STP Burst" for a series of roughly 300 instruments depending on the availability of materials. Why is it called the "STP Burst"? At one point, Ronnie had an oval STP sticker on the front of the guitar near the toggle switch. A darker spot on the finish was left behind when he later removed it, probably from less light exposure. Along with identifiable nicks and bruises, details such as these exemplify the dedication and accuracy that Gibson Custom emphasizes with its Collector's Choice series Les Pauls. C'mon and take a free ride with the STP Burst!

Includes: Hardshell Case, Certificate of Authenticity, Hang Tags, and Paperwork
