Epiphone 1958 Korina Flying V and Explorer at The Music Zoo Front Shot

It's not the 1959 Les Paul that was the rarest Gibson: it was the 1958 Korina Flying V and Explorer!

There's no doubt that the Explorer and Flying V are two of the most iconic electric guitar designs ever made, and it's incredible to think that they were designed in 1958 when Gibson president Ted McCarty pushed for futuristic designs to compete with the recently released Fender Stratocaster. Using the lightweight wood of the limba tree and marketed by Gibson as "korina" wood - the V and Explorer were put into a short lived production. Only 19 1958 Explorers and 98 Flying Vs were made. Compared to 643 1959 Les Paul Standards that were made, it's easy to see that the rarity of the V and Explorer have made them an almost unobtainable legend, with the exception of the 2022 Gibson Custom Shop run of Korina V's and Explorers. But now, we are so excited to be introducing the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson 1958 Korina Flying V and Explorer guitars!
