It brings us great sadness to report the passing of legendary American Musician/Songwriter Tom Petty. Originally reported by TMZ,   Tom was found unconscious late Sunday night and ultimately passed away on Monday night.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' self-titled 1976 debut featured classics like Breakdown and American Girl, and ultimately set the tone for what would be a long and illustrious career full of chartbusting hits. We also remember Tom as one of the most important artists to rule the MTV video waves in the late 80's and early 90's with classic videos from his Full Moon Fever and Into the Great Wide Open records - leaving us with memories of how creative the music video can be. We're also grateful for Tom's love for amazing gear - as represented by the collection of Rickenbacker, Gibson SG's and Fender Telecasters that he often used to lay out his memorable rhythms.

All of us at The Music Zoo extend our most sincere condolences to the family and close friends of Tom. We pay homage to his illustrious career with a few of his most iconic moments and videos below from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Traveling Wilbury's and Mudcrutch. He will be missed dearly.
