Gretsch Guitars

Gretsch is one of the oldest and most storied brands in the history of guitar making. In 1883, a young German immigrant living Brooklyn, NY named Friedrich Gretsch opened a small instrument shop selling banjos and drums. However, he soon died, leaving the business to his teenage son Fred. Fred Gretsch turned the company into one of the biggest importer/exporters of musical instruments by 1916, and the "Great Gretsch Sound" would become heard the world over for the next 80+ years. Today, Gretsch guitars are distributed by Fender® Musical Instruments Corp., and have returned to the glory they earned in the '50s and '60s. The guitars pictured here are in stock and individually photographed. We will ship Gretsch® products within the United States only.

Gretsch Billy-Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Reverse FSR Electric Guitar Black
The heart and soul of Bo Diddley and Billy F. Gibbons combine for this new retro-deco designed Jupiter Thunderbird coming from Gretsch, who has taken the design a step further and delivered us an ultra-limited, reverse body, black finish model. Well we are so delighted by the look and sound of this unique axe, here at the Zoo, that we had to order a handful right away!
The original Jupiter Thunderbird was designed in 1959 by Bo Diddley himself and given to Billy F. Gibbons, who fell in love with it and wanted to use the special guitar for some Z.Z. Top recordings. Now Gibbons has teamed up with Gretsch to take the original model and add some of his own mojo for the ultimate axe to bring on tour. The Billy-Bo features a heavily chambered mahogany body, a super thin maple top, a bone nut, a pinned Adjusto-matic bridge with G-Cutout tailpiece, and Grover Sta-Tite tuners. Dual Power’Tron Plus pickups deliver that classic Gretsch rock ‘n roll twang, with plenty of power.

Gretsch Custom Shop G6118T 130th Anniversary Electric Guitar Gold/Black
In 1883, a 27 year old German immigrant arrived on the east coast of the United States and made a living manufacturing banjos, tambourines, and drums. 130 years later, the legacy of Friedrich Gretsch lives on, and this special edition G6118T hollow body electric guitar is made in commemoration. Gretsch Professional Collection Center-Block G6137TCB White Panther Electric Guitar
Here's a cat that's got one mean growl; the new Gretsch Center-Block White Panther, a semi-hollowbody instrument with a newly designed center-block that not only gives the guitar more resonance and tone, but allows you to play at louder (or higher gain) volumes without feeding back like crazy.

The body is a 1-3/4" depth double-cutaway design with 3-ply maple and a 16" lower bout. Features also include a 3-piece maple neck, bound rosewood fretboard, and High Sensitive Filter'Tron pickups.

The center block runs the entire length of the body and imparts several sonic advantages. First, it minimizes body-resonant feedback and creates a more "high gain-friendly" performance. Second, it's made of spruce, which produces a spirited, lively tone. Third, the center block itself is chambered at the lower bout to minimize weight. Fourth, the pinned wood bridge base extends over the sides of the center block about 5/8” on either side, transferring string-vibration energy to the two f-hole-vented body chambers to produce a full-bodied tone.
