Gretsch Guitars

Gretsch is one of the oldest and most storied brands in the history of guitar making. In 1883, a young German immigrant living Brooklyn, NY named Friedrich Gretsch opened a small instrument shop selling banjos and drums. However, he soon died, leaving the business to his teenage son Fred. Fred Gretsch turned the company into one of the biggest importer/exporters of musical instruments by 1916, and the "Great Gretsch Sound" would become heard the world over for the next 80+ years. Today, Gretsch guitars are distributed by Fender® Musical Instruments Corp., and have returned to the glory they earned in the '50s and '60s. The guitars pictured here are in stock and individually photographed. We will ship Gretsch® products within the United States only.

Gretsch Billy-Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Reverse FSR Electric Guitar Black
The heart and soul of Bo Diddley and Billy F. Gibbons combine for this new retro-deco designed Jupiter Thunderbird coming from Gretsch, who has taken the design a step further and delivered us an ultra-limited, reverse body, black finish model. Well we are so delighted by the look and sound of this unique axe, here at the Zoo, that we had to order a handful right away!
The original Jupiter Thunderbird was designed in 1959 by Bo Diddley himself and given to Billy F. Gibbons, who fell in love with it and wanted to use the special guitar for some Z.Z. Top recordings. Now Gibbons has teamed up with Gretsch to take the original model and add some of his own mojo for the ultimate axe to bring on tour. The Billy-Bo features a heavily chambered mahogany body, a super thin maple top, a bone nut, a pinned Adjusto-matic bridge with G-Cutout tailpiece, and Grover Sta-Tite tuners. Dual Power’Tron Plus pickups deliver that classic Gretsch rock ‘n roll twang, with plenty of power.
