Michael Swart, long time musician and recording engineer who owns and runs a 24 track studio located in Wilmington, NC has been using vintage tube amps of yore for live gigs and studio work. Vintage Vox, Fender, and Ampeg cycled though. Michael always found something missing in a perfect small recording amp for studio and home use that exhibited great tone and distortion characteristics, all the while, remaining flexible (and quiet) enough for recording use. Swart then started building custom tube amps to get the exact tone he wanted. The original SPACE TONE is as a result of this need for a small studio or home amp that could provide BIG tone with quality distortion when needed. The Atomic Space Tone followed and the rest is history.

The all new Atomic Space Tone MkII head is Michael's assault on perfecting the AST circuit for a head with 4/8/16 ohm impedance selection, the ability to run the 6V6, 6L6, and EL-34, along with the addition of a completely bypassable dedicated tube stage master volume, designed from the ground up to bring MV convenience without leeching the tone/soul from the amazing AST circuit. The all aluminum, star ground chassis is housed in a hand-made, finger-jointed, solid wood cab, covered in lacquered tweed.

The Atomic Space Tone 1x12" cabinet comes stock with the Mojo BV-25 (but can be purchased with speaker of choice). Don't let it's size fool you, the Swart Space Tone Atom is a 5 watt Class A tube amp with a single 6V6GT power tube and one 12AX7 and 12DW preamp tubes. An 8" Weber Signature Ceramic speaker provides the sound and the reverb comes from a spring reverb tank built into the bottom of the amplifier. To complete the great tone of this amp, Swart housed it in a very cool red sparkle finish.

The Space Tone Tweed Series amplifier is inspired by Classic designs from the single-ended all valve era 50's. The Circuit is a customized Fender Princeton 5F2/5F1 Champ derivative with Swart's own circuit mods and tweaks thrown into the mix, making this circuit unique sonically.

Each ST-6V6se is hand-wired, point to point, then burned-in and tested before leaving Swart Amplifier Co. There are no circuit or turret boards resulting in the most direct path, this harkening back to when all amps were hand wired with care.. Cloth wire is used for hookup. Simply put, there are no semiconductors or solid state diodes anywhere as the Space Tone is 100% valve powered.

The AST with the Pro Panel kit sounds "bigger" than the stock AST with original port. The enlarged port in the Pro panel, now standard on all AST, gives a noticeably more open sound. And the new switchable external output makes it virtually painless to drive an external cab, bypassing the internal speaker (8ohm output). Better yet, you get "on the fly" switching capability, allowing you to cycle between the external cab and the internal speaker while playing.
