For its 2014 Fall Limited collection, Taylor has given its 700-series FLTD guitars a very interesting look and sound by using rare Blackheart sassafras for its back and sides. Actually, two pieces of bookmatched sassafras are used for the back, and this looks pretty amazing and unique. The dark, bold striping is unique to Blackheart. This wood comes from Tasmania and it produces focused tone with plenty of projection as well as warmth and jangly top end. The 712e, meanwhile, is a Grand Concert 12-fret guitar with a slotted headstock. It has a mahogany neck with a comfortably round profile that isn't too big, and a gorgeous ebony fretboard. The 712e-FLTD ultimately proves to be a pleasure to play, and a guitar with a big, authoritative voice. Comes with Expression System 2 electronics.
