Used Gibson Custom Shop Lee Ritenour ES-335 Electric Guitar Aged and Signed Cherry
This preowned Gibson Custom Shop Lee Ritenour ES-335 guitar is in excellent condition. It's #9 out of a run of 50 guitars that were aged and then signed by the guitarist and it's a straightforward recreation of the early '60s ES-335 that Ritenour has relied on for most of his career with specs that are correct for that model. It has a custom neck profile that's similar to a Slim Taper, '57 Classic pickups, laminated maple construction, and a mahogany neck along with nickel hardware. The aging here is exquisite, and the guitar feels and sounds like an instrument that's been working hard for years. Weight is 8 pounds, 15 ounces.

Gibson Les Paul Junior Single-Cut Electric Guitar Heritage Cherry
For its 2015 model guitars, Gibson has updated the entire line with some great improvements that take its guitars to yet another level of excellence. In fact, itís a very exciting time to be purchasing a new Gibson electric guitar and bass!

When you visit Gibsonís website (www.gibson.com), youíll notice that every model guitar and bass has detailed pictures and written descriptions that explain the differences in wood grades (from a plain maple top to the most figured flamed or quilted maple available, or the darkness and grain variations in rosewood fretboards), neck profiles, and hardware, and how these variations contribute to the guitarís overall price. Itís part of a 4C grading system designed to help you find the Gibson guitar thatís perfect for you and your needs.

Then there are the physical updates to the actual guitars. They include: a brass nut with a zero fret and height adjustability (should you want higher action for slidework); a wider neck and fretboard (.50Ē per side) for increased playing comfort; a treated, sanded, and buffered fretboard; a thicker and solid piece of rosewood for the fretboard; a new tune-o-matic bridge that attaches with a hex-wrench and is adjustable via thumbscrews; a removable pickguard that doesnít attach with screws (that one screw on the guard is for appearance purposes); an improved G Force (formerly Min-Etune) automatic tuning system that can tune the guitar with one strum of all the strings; cryogenically treated frets that will last longer and are also 27-percent lower; an improved output jack for a better and uninterrupted signal; and a full setup and intonation before shipment from Gibson. Also the new SG and Les Paul guitars have a ďLes Paul 100Ē signature on the headstock in place of the traditional logo, which celebrates the centennial of Mr. Paulís birth.

For 2015, Gibson has introduced a new version of the classic Les Paul Junior, and it remains every bit as ballsy and rock 'n' roll as ever. While incorporating the 2015 changes, it's still tied to tradition with it's all mahogany construction, very potent P-90 single-coil pickup, and simple one-piece stopbar bridge/tailpiece: this time with lightning bolt compensation.

Suhr Modern Claro Walnut Electric Guitar Natural
A gorgeous two-piece Claro walnut top is among the feature attractions with this particular Suhr Modern guitar. It has a two-piece koa body and a bolt-on pau ferro neck (with a beautifully striped Macassar ebony fretboard) that together yield a beautifully warm, rich tone with a tight low-end and midrange. You'll hear plenty of shimmer and overtones that are typical of a 25.5" scale and a bolted rather than set neck. The pickup configuration, two JST humbuckers and a JST single-coil in the middle, allow for great rhythm and lead tones. And while the Gotoh tremolo bridge is conventional and non-locking, with help from the Suhr locking tuners the guitar can handle heavy tremolo action. In the end, it's a great workhorse for the professional and a pleasure to play and enjoy for all guitar enthusiasts.

Gibson Custom Shop Tal Farlow Model Archtop Electric Guitar Vintage Sunburst
Tal Farlow was a virtuosic if reluctant jazz guitarist for whom, in 1962, Gibson issued a signature model guitar (part of its Artist Series, which also included a guitar for Barney Kessell and Johnny Smith). We say reluctant only because Farlow shied away from the public eye, preferring to live a quiet life on the Jersey Shore with only sporadic re-emergences to perform and make great, nearly legendary jazz recordings.

This particular Tal Farlow model was built by the elite Crimson division of the Gibson Custom shop, and it's an exact recreation of the 1962 original with the distinctive "Scroll" cutaway that Farlow personally designed. The instrument is similar to the Gibson ES-5 model; both have a 17" flame maple body, a maple and rosewood neck, and a rich sound, unplugged or amplified with PAF-like pickups. It's great to see Farlow's name live on in his signature guitar.

Gibson Custom Shop Exclusive Murphy Ultra Aged '59 Les Paul Electric Guitar Iced Tea Burst
The Music Zoo's Exclusive Murphy Ultra Aged '59 Les Paul's from Gibson Custom Shop are hard to come by, but we have one of these fantastic guitars here in stock. It's been aged by restoration and aging expert Tom Murphy from Gibson Custom to have the appearance--and tone!--of a '59 that decidedly hasn't been sitting in a closet or under a bed but has been out in the field, working and making music.

The Ultra Aged Les Pauls offer the quality build and attention to detail that the Gibson Custom Shop and Tom Murphy are famous for. These guitars start life as a regular Historic Reissue but are transformed by Tom into living, breathing, screaming monsters. Perhaps the first thing you notice when you pick one up is the finish missing on some areas on the neck's back; it's soft, and warm to the touch. Same for the forearm section of the top; it feels straight out of the case like it's been played for years. The heavily rounded fingerboard edges make chord shapes feel easier, and creates a familiarity with the guitar from the moment you pick it up, much like a well-played vintage original.

Many people who see the Ultra Aged Les Pauls in our store immediately assume it's a vintage '50s guitar. The expert aging, lacquer checking, and missing finish is nice cosmetically, but serves a larger purpose. It allows the guitar to breathe. Over time new guitars tend to open up and become more resonant, rich, and harmonic as they are played; most Ultra Aged Les Pauls sound "played-in" from the first note. They're "player" guitars that are collectible and happen to be some of the best Les Pauls ever made. And, they are Music Zoo Exclusives.
