The Story

1960 Stratocaster Hardtail Sunburst

A vintage Strat with just the right amount of upkeep and maintenance to it: this is a 1960 Hardtail Stratocaster with a Sunburst finish. This one is lightweight as we've ever seen (6 lbs, 11 oz!). The Hardtail Strat has come up a few rungs on the ladder in the last few years from key guitar collectors who have sung its praises.

The guitar has a few pieces of hardware which are unoriginal: there's a swapped low E tuner and a high E saddle, with a 5-way switch added and a few modern wires from the second tone knob to the output jack. The neck finish has been sanded down and it has a very smooth, natural feel to the slim "C" shape. The fretboard has been refretted with medium jumbos that are still in great shape. The body is dated 2/60 in the neck pickup cavity and the serial is 46052.

We can see why the Hardtail Strat is so loved: the connection of the strings going through the solid body makes for a Strat with tons of resonance and acoustic volume. Please contact our sales team for a full photo set including shots of the disassembled guitar with the pickguard wiring and body date.

Includes: Non-Original Tweed Hardshell Case
