This is the Fender Custom Shop George Harrison Rocky Stratocaster replica. A complete rebuild by Masterbuilder Paul Waller of one of the most recognizable Stratocasters of all time! The story goes that during the Help! sessions, Beatles roadie Mal Evans was sent out to find George and John a pair of Stratocasters, and returned back to the studio with a matching set of Sonic Blue Strats. Harrison's guitar was serial number 83840, purchased from Grimwoods Music. This Strat was the guitar heard throughout songs such as Ticket to Ride, the solo of You're Going to Lose That Girl, and onto Rubber Soul tracks like Nowhere Man. In 1967, towards the end of the Sgt. Pepper's sessions, George Harrison took a paintbrush to the guitar for its now-famous psychedelic paint job. It was featured prominently in the 'I Am The Walrus" segment of the Magical Mystery Tour film. The guitar remained a favorite of Harrison’s for the rest of the decade, and by December 1969 Harrison had painted “Bebopalula” on the upper body, “Go Cat Go” on the pickguard and “Rocky”—the guitar’s nickname—on the headstock. The Fender Custom Shop replica was built off of Paul Waller examining the original Rocky Strat through the DIY paid job, the wiring, pickups, the rare assymetrical "C" neck profile, and even details such as the Grimwoods decal remain on the tribute model. This is an incredibly special guitar that will be the centerpiece of Beatles collections for years to come. They will be rare and will not last long, so contact us to make a Rocky Strat yours now!
