This is a pre-owned and in very good condition Magnatone Varsity amplifier with a burgundy tolex covering, that has some wear to the edges of the cabinet. Magnatone's Varsity guitar amp, part of the company's Studio Collection lineup, is a 15-watt combo that uses two EL-84 tubes for its output. A simple circuit built around a GZ34 tube rectifier includes two 12AX7 preamp tubes and controls for volume, treble, and bass. The amp's loudspeaker is a custom Magnatone 12-inch driver, all of which delivers a bold, classic American-type sound with a great, natural overdrive. It's at home in the stage and/or studio, and overall output exceeds the 15-watts rated output.
