This is a forward-thinking instrument for the bass player who wants a workhorse instrument that can really satisfy their tweaker-tendencies: the Willcox Saber bass – this model in a fretted 4-string incarnation. The Saber has a flame maple top with chambered swamp ash body and a LightWave System2 analog optical pickup system. LightWave pickups are produced of a special material that renders a natural tone from the guitar strings without coloring it with extra resonances. iceTone™ is LightWave Systems’ exclusive circuit, which allows users to blend the LightWave Optical Pickup with tailored piezo transducers built into each string saddle. The result is a smooth, natural high-frequency enhancement ranging from crisp high-end to percussive presence.
