D'Addario XT Nickel Plated Electric Guitar Strings Tone
The D'Addario XT strings have a very natural tone, working well with just about any pickup configuration you've got loaded in your guitar. We tried them with single coils and a pair of hot humbuckers, and each guitar's characteristics were complimented well by the strings. The single coil tones didn't get too jangly, and sounded well-rounded and clear. The humbuckers offered an even sound with no string overpowering another.

These strings feel smooth, and although they are coated, they by know means feel like they are. These are by far one of the most natural feeling and sounding strings we've attached to a block of wood, and we like them a lot. Oh, and don't worry about them going dead after they've been sitting on your unused guitar for a while. The XT's kept that fresh and bright feel and sound for longer than any of us here have been used to!
D'Addario XT Nickel Plated Electric Guitar Strings Tuning
One thing we're definitely happy about with these strings are their ability to stay in tune. We loaded these onto several guitars, including an acoustic, and experienced no intonation issues, even when we dug in with heavy strumming, or pushed and pulled our bends to the absolute limit. These offer exceptional durability and strength, and you'll certainly find it challenging to try and break one of these.
You Might Also Consider
The D'Addario NYXL Series utilizes a carbon steel core and nickel-plated steel winding. While these are an earlier series, they do still offer exceptional tuning stability and extended lifespan. A unique "fusion twist" process for the plain strings with their nickel plating on the wound strings produce higher output as well as a superior midrange response.
