The Music Zoo is super excited to offer the new Theodore model released by Gibson USA. Previously only available as a very limited edition model through the Gibson Custom Shop Archive Collection, the Theodore is a re-imagining of this unique design by 1950s Gibson President Ted McCarty. The story behind the Theodore starts in the 1950s, as McCarty (an absolute legend, responsible for designs such as the Flying V & ES-335) was searching for something new to add to the Gibson lineup. Flash forward to 2021-2022, Gibson Head of Product Development Mat Koehler was going through an old filing cabinet and discovered the original sketches by McCarty, signed and dated to 1959.

The mission was clear: these guitars had to be made! Released in 2022 as a limited edition collectible, the original run featured alder bodies with a walnut center strip and two P-90 pickups with a wraparound tailpiece. To update the Theodore for the modern age and a 2024 USA run: the Gibson USA Theodore features a mahogany body with two '57 Classic humbuckers and a tune-o-matic bridge. The Gibson USA Theodore is available in Antique Natural, Ebony, and Vintage Cherry!
