Gibson Artist In Residence: James A. Willis
Posted on by ZooKeeper
We were delighted to come across painter/sculptor James A. Willis at NAMM 2012 in the Gibson Custom room. Best known for his impressionistic oil paintings of Manhattan, James is now acting as Gibson Custom’s artist in residence, and is creating some truly stunning one-of-a-kind guitars. Check out our exclusive video above for his explanation of what goes into making these works of art. All the details are his, from the paintings to the carving, even the leatherwork. We love that Gibson is reaching out into the art world and broadening the idea of what a “custom” guitar can be.
