The Gibson Custom Shop Dave Amato Les Paul Axcess is here! – a tour-ready, lightweight, playable and excellent sounding guitar created in collaboration with Dave, who travels extensively with REO Speedwagon requiring a guitar that’s flexible, durable and prone to a lead-heavy workload. It features a one-piece white ebony fretboard, single ‘57 Classic Plus with push/pull pot for coil tapping, Floyd Rose, a contoured heel for smooth, high fret access, and a beautiful HD TV Yellow Finish. Designed for the player, the Dave Amato Les Paul Axcess is one of Gibson Custom’s most accessible guitars!

Dave Amato is best known as the lead guitarist for REO Speedwagon, where he seamlessly took over the role of rock’s longest standing and tour heavy bands in 1989. But Dave’s career far stretches further back to the early 1980’s when he relocated from Massachusetts to Los Angeles and quickly earned a reputation as a monster studio player and vocalist. As his star rose on the West Coast, he was noticed and recruited by the likes of Ted Nugent, Richie Sambora, Cher, Rick Springfield, David Lee Roth and Motley Crue among many. When REO targeted him as their #1 choice to fill a vacancy left by Gary Richrath, the perfect union of incredibly guitar player meets lead-heavy rock power house was too much to pass up.
As Dave’s career evolves, so do his demands on the tools required for a tour-heavy, year-round schedule. The new Dave Amato Les Paul Axcess from Gibson Custom represents a collaboration with the artist based on very specfic needs, exceptional tone in a very playable instruments that’s lightweight for long nights on stage. Among features personally selected by Dave are the ’58 Les Paul Neck Profile, Axcess contour heel for complete fret access, a ’57 Classic Plus Humbucker with push/pull pot for coil tapping and a Floyd Rose Tailpiece. It’s also the first Artist guitar from Gibson Custom to feature a one-piece, White Ebony fretboard.
