Gibson Kirk Hammett Flying V Prototype
Posted on by ZooKeeper
Without a doubt, our favorite Kirk Hammett guitar is his black 1979 Gibson Flying V. It’s probably his, too. That guitar was on every album in the first half of Metallica’s career, starting with “Kill ‘Em All”, “Ride The Lightning, “Master Of Puppets”, and “And Justice For All”. It’s possibly one of the most important heavy metal guitars of all time. Now, Gibson is producing 150 perfectly aged replicas of this iconic V, 50 of which will be autographed by Kirk. At NAMM 2012, we got the chance to photograph the prototype. It looked and felt great. Look for this axe at The Music Zoo in 2012.
