Highest Gain Ever: Orange TH 100 Amplifier
Posted on by ZooKeeper
Squirreled away inside a secret, padded room on the sprawling 2011 NAMM show floor, we were given a full-volume test drive of the amazing new TH 100 head from Orange Amplifiers. This successor to the popular TH30 packs four EL34 valves, four 12AX7 preamp valves and a 12AT7 valve, with the highest specific preamp gain of any Orange amp in history. That’s not to say that it’s a one-trick pony; the clean channel is beautiful and sparkling, and the gain channel runs the gamut from classic rock crunch to blow your head off harmonic Armageddon. This amp can also be set to half power mode without losing the valve’s sound. Orange is bringing it hard lately, and we like what we hear.
