Slash’s Marshall AFD100 Valve Amplifiers On Display
Posted on by ZooKeeper
In Marshall’s NAMM booth we were impressed by stacks upon stacks of amps and heads, most of which were the new Slash AFD100s. These 100 watt all valve amplifiers are Slash’s ultimate tone concept, based on the amp sounds that made him famous on Guns ‘N’ Roses’ Appetite For Destruction. There are two footswitchable modes, one that is based on a special JCM800 Slash has relied on since the ’80s, and the other fine tuned to reproduce the AFD sound. Slash and Marshall pulled the individual guitar tracks from the Appetite master recordings on songs like Night Train and got very specific about what they were hearing and how to reproduce it. Slash calls the result “very successful” and we can’t wait to plug in ourselves.
