Taylor GS Mini vs BTT Big Baby Acoustic Close Up

Taylor GS Mini & Taylor Big Baby Tone

The GS-Mini sports a rich, full voice despite its compact size. The Mini will impress you with its wealth of sustain without any muddiness. The sound is smooth, bright, and its all just as responsive as Taylor's bigger models. You'll be pleasantly surprised by what this lil' guy can do!

The BBT Big Baby features a Sitka spruce top that produces a broad dynamic range and accommodates a versatile range of playing styles. Being that its a 15/16-scale dreadnought (slightly larger than the GS-Mini), it also gives you a bit more volume and bottom-end.

Taylor GS Mini & Taylor Big Baby Feel

The GS-Mini is ultra-portable, yet just as comfortable to cradle in the comfort of your home, making it the ultimate modern-day parlor guitar. The GS Mini features Taylor's patented neck that feels natural in your hand. Adjusting to the smaller scale length was no issue, and actually made playing single-note lines easier than on a standard scale.

The BBT Big Baby feels more like a standard-sized guitar than the GS-Mini, not only because of the body size, but it's scale length. With the GS-Mini you'll get 23 1/2", while the BBT Big Baby sports a more natural 25 1/2", making chord strumming feel more familiar. Neither guitars are intimidating in any regard, but folks who intend on using the guitar as their main instrument may opt for the BBT Big Baby.

Which one is right for you?

The GS Mini may be small, but it is definitely not a toy. This compact powerhouse is also excellent for finger picking and strumming, and gives you all the volume you'll need at home or out at the beach. The size is perfect. Not too big, not too small. So, if you're looking for an ultra-portable guitar to have fun with, but with the feel and responsiveness of a standard size, the GS-Mini is right up your alley!

Sitting down with the BBT Big Baby, we found that there were no unbalanced notes anywhere on the neck. The frets are spaced as well, and the low string height and a super thin neck, make things really comfortable and easy to work with. Much like the GS-Mini, its also very light when resting on your lap and just small enough that you can sit with it in any position without becoming uncomfortable! If you're looking for a smaller-body acoustic for small gigs, the home studio, or practice sessions, the Taylor BBT Big Baby can fill those roles with ease!
