The Story

1947 L-5 Sunburst

This is a fantastic post-war L-5 acoustic archtop guitar with a great swing-era sound! It is in very good overall condition with no cracks in the body or neck. It features the standard parallel bracing, carved solid spruce top, carved figured maple back, script logo, and era-correct rosewood fingerboard. The guitar has had a refret and new nut at some point, along with a bit of finish touch-up on the edges of the neck where we assume there was some play wear. The hardware is all original with the exception of the low E tuner which has been replaced with a correct but slightly later Kluson, and the neck mount for the original pickguard. The tuner buttons have shrunk, but they are solid, not crumbling, and work just fine. Beyond the subtle neck touch-up, the rest of the finish is original with light dings and pick wear over the surface. This is a loud and snappy guitar with great clarity, beautiful overtones, and sustain for days! Ships in a 1960s Gibson hardshell case with yellow interior.

Includes: 1960s Gibson Hardshell Case
