1962 Jazz Bass Sunburst Item Description

This is what dreams are made of for people who sell guitars for a living...finding that perfect vintage instrument that has a known history and has been sitting under a bed for years and years. This is a 1962 Jazz Bass in the classic sunburst finish.

The story behind this bass - as you can hear in the attached video, is that while Zoo owner Tommy was at his dentist appointment, a woman recognized his name because someone with the last name Colletti played in her wedding band. That was in fact Tommy's uncle. Small world, right!? The story goes on that a beloved family member of hers passed in the early 1970s, leaving behind his Jazz Bass which he purchased new in 1962. The bass has been kept for decades as a family heirloom in its original case until now. Everything is stock on the instrument and it only has the slightest bit of patina to the finish and some scuffing on the neck right around the 2nd fret. The neck date on this bass is October of 1962.

The nut on this bass remains original, however over time has slightly shifted to the bass side of the neck. The original string mutes are still installed and it is strung up with flatwound strings. The truss rod turns as it should, and the electronics all work! This is a wonderful 'one-owner' vintage instrument that will stun anyone who sees it when they learn how old it actually is.
