Here we have a beautiful vintage Gibson L-5C archtop from 1962. This guitar was originally sold as an acoustic instrument, but it is currently set up with a vintage DeArmond Guitar Mike floating pickup. The pickup is mounted to a black pickguard with multiply binding and volume/tone controls. The original end pin has been replaced with an input jack. Not only does this setup electrify the guitar, but the guard has a cool D'Angelico-inspired look about it. The endpin hole was opened slightly to accommodate the input jack, but otherwise no alterations were made when converted to electric. As the name suggests, this L-5 features a cutaway for easy access to the upper register. Standard features include a hand-carved spruce top, lightly figured maple back and sides, 3-piece maple neck, and ebony board with block inlays. The original keystone tuners and other hardware are present, though the original pickguard is long gone. It has a lovely tone, with nice clarity and plays wonderfully up and down the neck. The finish is in fine shape overall, though it shows light dings and scratches over its surface. Ships in an original brown & pink Lifton case.
