1965 Stratocaster 3-Tone Sunburst Item Description

This is a beautiful example of a well-loved mid '60s Fender L-serial Stratocaster right before the transition to CBS ownership of the company. This is a 1965 Strat in Sunburst with a maple neck and rosewood board in overall very good condition. The guitar came from the family of the original owner - and the main caveat with this instrument is that the original owner DIY-engraved a personal security number into the headstock and backplate of the guitar. The numbers have been edited in our pictures for privacy. It was perhaps a measure of security that the owner wanted to have to identify the guitar in case of theft.

Besides the engravings, the guitar remains original in all of its hardware and electronics. The original frets are still there, with a low profile but minimal wear. There's lacquer checking and a bit of dings around the body as pictured. The original 3-way pickup switch remains, however is a bit stiff. Playwise, it has a wonderful oval "C" profile to the neck and all the notes ring out clearly. We love the bright red of the burst on this one which has been well preserved over the years.

The guitar includes the original case and pieces of the backplate which have since been cracked and removed, as well as a non-original chrome-tipped tremolo arm.

Includes: Original Hardshell Case, Non-Original Tremolo Arm
