The American Original takes the appearance of a P-Bass in its Lake Placid Blue finish and gives it a modern tweak with vintage-tall frets and a 9.5" radius. By 1963, the Precision Bass was a bonafide classic, a workhorse instrument that saw itself on stages across the world, no matter the size - stadium or club. The pickup is the new Pure Vintage '63 split coil, made as period-correct as possible from the enamel-coated coil wire to the cloth-covered output wires, fiber bobbins and alnico 5 magnets. Other authentic touches include the Thick '63 C profile neck, vintage-tall frets, original-era body radii, Pure Vintage hardware—including a 4 saddle bridge, and a nitro lacquer finish that not only lets the wood “breathe” naturally with resonant tone, but ages naturally as well.
