Product Description

A Tele built from one of Rock and Rolls most famous nightclubs! This is the Fender Custom Shop El Mocambo Telecaster by Ron Thorn. The El Mocambo, if you aren't aware has been a staple of live music in Toronto since 1948. In the years since, all of the greats from Buddy Guy and Muddy Waters to the Ramones and Tom Waits have played on that stage. The Cars and Elvis Costello and the Attractions all recorded incendiary live albums there from 1978 to 1983 and, famously, the Rolling Stones played a surprise two-night appearance there in March 1977 (billed as “The Cockroaches”), which was recorded for 1977 album Love You Live. The body on the Tele is built of 300-year old eastern white pine reclaimed from the rafters of the club during its 2014 renovation. A native of Toronto himself, Ron Thorn took this project on and left no stone unturned. More features include a Palm Tree first fret inlay, quartersawn roasted Canadian maple neck, African blackwood fretboard, Josefina handwound pickups and gold hardware. Only 25 sets of the El Mocambo Tele and Strats were made. Each one includes a custom embroidered neon green case, limited edition poster, enamel pin, Stevie Ray Vaughan Live at the El Mocambo DVD and signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Includes: Hardshell Case, Certificate of Authenticity, Custom Leather Strap, Poster, Enamel Pin, Case Candy
