Archive Series Theodore Ebony VOS Item Description

Right out of Gibson's history books and into our hands: this is the first guitar from the Gibson Custom Shop Archive Series called the 'Theodore'. Guitar industry legend and Gibson president through the '50s and '60s Ted McCarty helped develop some of the brands most iconic designs including the Les Paul, ES-335 and Explorer. He was known for sketching new instrument ideas during meetings, and on March 18th, 1957 - Ted drew and presented a new solidbody design which has never been produced - until today!

The 'Theodore' as built by Gibson Custom Shop features an alder body with a scimitar headstock design, two florentine cutaways and a walnut center strip. The guitar is built to be a lightweight and balanced instrument with two P-90 pickups and a wraparound bridge. There are only 318 guitars produced between the three finish options! This is a very special guitar that's bound to be a rare collectible as much as it is a unique Gibson unlike anything else they've ever made!

Includes: Historic-Style Brown and Pink Case, Deluxe Certificate of Authenticity, Premium Leather Strap, Print of Original Drawing and 1957-Style Catalog Page Print
