The hand selected Flame Maple top is mated to the Mahogany back with hide glue for a tone and sustain that has to be heard to be believed. The Mahogany neck is topped with a Rosewood fingerboard that features hand-rolled binding to get this guitar as close to original specifications as possible. All the small details from the Top Hat control knobs, to the authentically shaded plastics, to the classic Les Paul peghead veneer have been carefully recreated. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish is based on a signature Sunburst finish from page 90 of the Beauty Of The Burst book, perfectly accentuating the Flame Maple top. The finish has been hand-aged by the luthiers at the Gibson Custom Shop. The light aging in the finish and on the Nickel hardware gives this instrument a gorgeous, played-in patina and feel.
