Les Paul Custom Ebony 1969 Item Description

This is an original 1969 Les Paul Custom with the classic ebony Black Beauty finish and the original Gibson hardshell case included. The patina on this guitar is exactly what you want on an old Les Paul Custom: authentic playwear and a great Rock and Roll vibe! The 1969 Les Paul Custom saw some tweaks to the original ‘50s Custom, even as Gibson was bringing back the classic model from its sabbatical from 1961 to 1968. The Les Paul Custom as it appeared in ’69 had a maple top, a pancake mahogany body (with a maple spline), a steeper angled headstock, and longer neck tenon. One of the most noted features starting around this time was the headstock volute, intended to strengthen the headstock by adding a larger surface area of wood. This Les Paul Custom has the original frets, although by now they are quite low to the fretboard. It still plays as it should, though you as a player might prefer to refret it to keep it going for even more gigs and sessions. There is a gauge in the neck down to the wood around the 9th fret, however, it is not very noticeable while you’re playing. The hardware remains original, and of course, the witch hat knobs are a requirement for any Custom going into the Glam Rock era of the 1970s. One plastic part which is unoriginal is the switch tip. This one even comes in at a reasonable weight of 9 lbs, 3 oz!
