Theodore Standard Guitar Antique Natural Item Description

This is the Gibson USA incarnation of the Theodore model, previously only available as a collectible limited-edition Custom Shop instrument from the Archive Series! The story behind the Theodore is that it was a discovered sketch by Ted McCarty, who was the visionary Gibson President from the '50s through the '60s and took them through their breakthrough successes from the ES-335 to the Les Paul. The Theodore was named for Ted, and is his original design of a double-cutaway body with a scimitar headstock design and two pickups.

The USA and the Custom Shop versions of the Theodore are different in that the USA version is built a more modern playing style with its two '57 Classic humbucker pickups and tune-o-matic bridge as opposed to the wraparound bridge and P-90 pickups of the Custom Shop Theodore. The body of the Gibson USA Theodore is mahogany whereas the original was built of alder. We are loving this version! The '57 Classics offer a thick, well-defined tone paired with the mahogany construction, and along with the comfort of a SlimTaper neck profile and the intonation of the bridge this is a very fun guitar to play. We think you'll love it too! Pick up your Gibson USA Theodore at The Music Zoo today!
