Special Greenburst 1980 Item Description

This is a Hamer Special, in a Greenburst finish and built in 1980 - the first year of production for the model. The Special was the third Hamer model, after the Standard and Sunburst guitars. This flat-top electric features a flame maple cap over a solid mahogany body, mahogany neck with 22-fret rosewood board, the Sustain Block bridge, Schaller tuners, and humbucking pickups. This Special has the 'Checkerboard' Hamer logo as seen towards the end of 1980 production. The guitar is hot-rodded with Music Man EVH and vintage '70s DiMarzio Super Distortion pickups, with pots changed and tuners having been changed over time - they're back to stock spec Schallers now. There is authentic players wear to the body, with dings and dents throughout. The high-E saddle is unoriginal, and the strap pin on the back has been moved from the neck joint to the top horn. It's full of vibe, and the 1-5/8" nut width feels super comfortable. This guitar rips! A Rickenbacker hard case is included.
