A piece of art as much as it is a musical instrument! This is the Kintsugi Rhoads Masterbuilt by Pat Campolattano at the Jackson Custom Shop. Kintsugi is a Japanese technique of repairing items in a beautiful way using gold leaf mixed with resin to fill in the cracks - in this way you're not hiding what was broken, but in fact giving it a unique look and improving on its beauty by showing the care taken in repairing it. The story goes that Pat was building this Rhoads with a koa top, but the wood was too fragile and shattered. Rather than scrapping the wood, Pat finally took this chance to use the Kintsugi technique he'd read about in this build.
Aside from the top, the guitar is well thought out in its woods and cosmetics. A 3-piece korina neck topped with an ebony fretboard, the Kintsugi theme continues in the koa sharkfin inlays and gold leaf on the body bevels outlined in black pinstripes. For the pickups, we have a set of Lollar High Wind Imperial humbuckers, which are great for high-gain sounds while still being super clear. This is only one of one, don't miss out on this very collectible (and awesome sounding) Jackson!
