This long-awaited Taylor Custom Shop Builder's Edition Grand Auditorium has arrived and does not disappoint. This guitar is a part of our run of customized acoustics built of handpicked woods and materials during a trip to the Taylor factory in El Cajon, California. Walking around the wood selection room with Andy Powers himself, he taught us about the sonic qualities of Port Orford Cedar- wood sourced from the Pacific Northwest that responds more like spruce than cedar with a quick attack, increased clarity and a higher-than-usual headroom. We used this top on a few builds, and for this GA paired it with a mind-blowing set of AA-grade quilt maple.
The finish on this is an eye-catching Brushfire Burst, a color you don't see very often - usually used on top-tier NAMM showpiece instruments. It highlights the figuring in the maple very well. For inlays, a set of Belle Fleur patterns carved from MOP & abalone and the electronics in this guitar is the Taylor Claria pickup system!
