The Story

Used 2013 Les Paul Recording Electric Guitar Natural

Here we have a pre-owned 2013 Gibson USA reissue of the very unique and forward thinking Les Paul Recording model, in a natural finish. The guitar is still in overall excellent condition with little wear on it, just light surface marks - and the previous owner installed a Vibramate string spoiler and supergrip on the Bigsby for easy string changes. Les Paul was a visionary in many fields, not only revolutionizing what a guitar could do, but also inventing techniques that put the musician in right in the middle of the recording process. His use of multi-tracking and home recording methods showed that there could be an artistic value in a process that was, at the time, assigned to studied technicians.

In the 1970’s Les Paul took a step further in putting the guitarist in the recording driver’s seat, with the famed Gibson Les Paul Recording guitar. The idea was to provide the musician the best in contemporary electronics right on the guitar so that one could seamlessly interface with the recording medium. Well that vision is being rediscovered with the new Les Paul Recording guitar.

At its base, the guitar is crafted like a traditional Les Paul, only with weight relief for added resonance and comfort, and this model features a mahogany top as well as back and sides. A Tune-o-Matic bridge provides tried and true intonation and sound transfer, while a Bigsby B-7 vibrato gives some extra versatility. A new pair of “Recording Pickups” sound like traditional humbuckers, but with an extended frequency response, and a switchable “Fat Tap” setting creates thick single-coil tones.

This guitar will sound great going into your favorite tube amp, however in can be sent directly into a mixing board or DAW via a high quality Jensen transformer that converts the signal to a balanced, low impedance second output. Additional switches also provide a Low-Z ground lift and phase switching options to handle any recording situations. Despite the added electronics, this guitar still feels like a classic, and the 60’s Slim Taper neck will make any Gibson player feel right at home.

Includes: Hardshell Case
