The Taylor 600 series has been enhanced with new design features to bring their historically bright tone into a richer, warmer, and more complex voice. With the 614ce, Taylor has updated the Sitka Spruce Top by using torrefaction, which is a roasting process that offers better resonance and responsiveness β it also provides a slightly darker, Cedar-like look. The back and sides of this guitar are constructed from Maple to provide a crisp, bright tone that perfectly complements the Spruce top. A new customized bracing scheme and wood thickness brings out some new dimensions which produce enhanced warmth, balance, and sustain, while a Maple-specific bracing profile for the backs enhance responsiveness. The 614ce offers a special hand-rubbed Brown Sugar stain giving it a rich, vintage look without adding extra thickness to the finish. Another great feature is the use of protein glues for the bracing and bridge, which optimizes the sound transfer between components. A behind the saddle piezo pickup design with Expression System 2 electronics results in an amplified acoustic tone thatβs simple to use, just plug and play. The guitar has a slight blemish on the top as pictured, which does not have an affect on the feel or sound of the instrument.
