Ever since 1958, when Gibson introduced the first semi-hollowbody electric guitar, the timeless ES-335, the companyβs engineers have been fine-tuning the concept of combining the classic look of a hollowbody with the performance of a solidbody. The CS-356 achieves that goal. It features a single piece mahogany body that is tonally carved to include the back, rims and center block from one piece of wood.
