Originally Epiphone wanted to match their bold look with a bold sound, and the then-revolutionary coil-tapping was offered with a single switch. Now the ante has been upped and Epiphone offers coil-tapping for each individual pickup, and ProBuckers provide a sound that references a PAF, but wound hot. The original aesthetic is maintained with a AAA flame maple veneer atop a solid mahogany double cutaway body, featuring 1-ply cream binding for a beautiful vintage look. And to bring this classic model into the 21st century, Epiphone uses a special design to auto lock the LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece in place with no tools necessary, adding to the sustain of the instrument.
