If there was ever a guitar that was the definition of heavy – the Ibanez M8M Meshuggah is it, without a doubt. Introduced at the 2012 NAMM show, the M8M is the model Ibanez had made at Sugi in Japan after the original LA Custom Shop pieces made for Frederik Thordendal and Mårten Hagström. The M8M is built with a 5-piece Maple/Bubinga neck-thru with alder wings, big 6100 frets, and a super-long 29.4” scale length – designed to keep that low F string at a tension that won’t flop out or lose intonation. The pickup is a Lundgren M8, a low output pickup that retains clarity through no matter what level of gain, and a fixed FX Edge III-8 bridge with fine tuners.
The M8M is a completely handmade instrument, with all carves done by hand. With the light Charcoal Stain finish and under a close eye, you can see how much attention to detail was used in creating the instrument and making it as solid of a heavy-music making tool as it is. The guitar is in excellent condition, and includes the original hardshell case - of which the bottom latch does not work, but the middle and top keep the case securely closed.
