Alex Bishop: The Craft Of Sound
Posted on by Walter Bryant
Those of us who hold an occupation, hobby, or duty that requires us to use our hands extensively, can attest to a unique feeling of self-sufficiency. Not only from our satisfaction with the outcome, but from the transference of energy from ourselves to the subject of our objective. Catharsis, the process of releasing strong or repressed emotions, is a phenomena often experienced by musicians, and many other creatives alike. Alex Bishop, a guitar luthier as well as guitar player, is no stranger to such an experience. Partnered with the visuals above, Bishop’s coinciding words represent all that we creatives admire about guitar-making/playing. An excerpt from the video yields a very resonant statement about guitars: “You can’t freeze them in time,” he says. Watch the 4k video to see the passion of a devoted craftsmen first hand.
