Big and Bold: The New Gretsch Center-Block White Falcon
NAMM 2013 Gretsch has really floored us with the new Center Block Series. Now we can take all our favorite Gretsch big-bodied guitars, like the White Falcon – and throw them through our favorite high-gain pedals without running for the hills because of feedback. This new series takes the classic Gretsch hollowbody aesthetic and adds a spruce center block through the entire length of the body. However, Gretsch didn’t just throw it in there to give the guitar some weight and get rid of feedback issues, they chambered the lower bout of the block to lower the weight, and also extended the pinned wood bridge base over the sides of the block 5/8″ on both sides, allowing the string vibration from the bridge to travel through the block and up the body – resulting in an extremely full sounding and resonant guitar.
Features include a three-piece maple neck; 12”-radius ebony fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets, pearloid Neo-Classic “thumbnail” inlays and multi-ply sparkle appointments; Gretsch “winged/ vertical” sparkle logo; and dual High Sensitive Filter’Tron pickups. The guitar also has jeweled- arrow knobs and gold hardware, an Adjusto-Matic bridge with pinned ebony base and Cadillac® “G” tailpiece, Grover® Imperial tuners and Schaller® strap locks. Available in White with Gold Sparkle appointments and Black with Silver Sparkle appointments.
