Custom Color Gibson Firebirds Are Coming
Posted on by ZooKeeper
Our source inside Gibson snapped these shots for us of some Custom Shop Firebirds that are in production for The Music Zoo. These bad ‘birds will be arriving at The Music Zoo soon, and we can’t wait to see them. The guitars are coming in different configurations, both reverse and non-reverse, with both 2 mini-hums and 3 mini-hums as well as a long maestro. We decided to run some colors that haven’t been seen in some time from Gibson as well as some old favorites.
UPDATE: new pic of color applied, taken 1/26:
The colors were picked from the 1966 gibson catalog color chart, including some not so readily used colors these days like Silver Mist, Ember Red, Gold Mist and Frost Blue as well as Heather, Kerry Green, Inverness Green and Pelham Blue. Although some of these colors were originally polyurethane finishes these new finishes were all sprayed in nitro cellulose lacquer.
